Member Recognition

Congratulations to Erica Smith
2025-2026 Marguerite Whitmarsh Holman Award winner!

Marguerite Whitmarsh Holman was a charter member of the Junior League of Texarkana and served as its first president in 1926. In her honor, we annually recognize an outstanding active member whose commitment to volunteerism and dedication to the League exemplify the very spirit she helped establish. This award celebrates a member who demonstrates impactful service within the Junior League, a deep belief in voluntarism, and contributions that consistently exceed expectations.

Our honoree stood out for her unwavering support of others and her broad impact across our community. As one member shared, “She is always supporting other people and other nonprofit organizations in our community.”

Fellow League members describe her as someone who “truly embodies the spirit of the Junior League through her unwavering commitment to service, her strong belief in voluntarism, and her ability to lead with passion and purpose.” Others note that “her energy and dedication are evident in all that she does,” and that “she leads by example, motivating others to serve wholeheartedly.”

Her service to the League has been both extensive and impactful. She has contributed her time and talents through roles on the Mistletoe Market Committee, the Recruitment Committee, and as Training and Education Chair. She has served on the Board of Directors as Membership Vice President and, most recently, as our League President.

In the past year, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership during a particularly challenging financial period. She met these challenges with courage, clarity, and determination—making difficult decisions that have ultimately positioned the Junior League of Texarkana for greater stability and future success. Her leadership has not only guided the organization forward but has also inspired confidence and unity among our members.

With Hands On and Hearts In, we are honored to present the 2025-2026 Marguerite Whitmarsh Holman Award to Mrs. Erica Smith.

Congratulations to Nancy Robbins

2025-2026 Outstanding Sustiner

The Junior League of Texarkana is proud to announce this year’s Outstanding Sustainer Award recipient, Mrs. Nancy Robbins—a woman whose lifelong dedication to service and community has left a lasting impact on Texarkana and beyond.

Nancy was born to Calvin and Margaret Cassady in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. She later graduated from Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, before continuing her education at the University of Arkansas. During her time there, she became an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, forming friendships and values that would continue to shape her commitment to service. She graduated with pride, carrying forward a spirit of leadership and involvement.

Nancy is married to her high school sweetheart, Joe Robbins, and together they have built a loving family. They are the proud parents of two children, Stephen Robbins and Nicole Elder, and Nancy is a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren, with a fifth soon to arrive.

A pillar of the Texarkana community, Nancy joined the Junior League of Texarkana in 1991 and has been an integral member ever since. Her years of service have been marked by dedication, enthusiasm, and meaningful contributions. Among her fondest memories with the League is the heartfelt moment following the birth of her son, when fellow members surprised her at the hospital with their Mistletoe Market treasures—a testament to the friendships and support fostered through the organization.

Beyond her work with the Junior League, Nancy has generously given her time and talents to numerous local organizations. She is a member of the Gateway Garden Club, volunteers with the Salvation Army, and has served on the Pleasant Grove Foundation Board. During her children’s school years, she was an active PTA member, further demonstrating her commitment to education and youth. Nancy has also been a dedicated supporter of the arts, maintaining longtime involvement with the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council (TRAHC), where she previously served as President. Her passion for the arts extends to her support of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra and Silvermoon Theater.

Nancy Robbins exemplifies what it means to serve with heart, purpose, and humility. The Junior League of Texarkana is fortunate to count her among its members and is proud to recognize her outstanding contributions. It is with great admiration that the League names Nancy Robbins the 2025–2026 Outstanding Sustainer of the Year.
