President’s Message

Stepping into the role as the 100th President for the 2025-2026 League year fills me with immense pride and excitement for the journey ahead.  It is both an honor and a privilege to lead such a dedicated and passionate group of women committed to making a meaningful impact in our community.

For nearly a century, the Junior League of Texarkana (JLT) has empowered women and addressed critical community needs across our beloved Twin Cities. Our steadfast commitment to voluntarism, leadership development, and community collaborations have created lasting change and inspired generations of women to lead with purpose.

Your engagement is essential to our success. I encourage you to actively participate in our signature projects: Open Hearts Food Pantry, Teacher Take Wing, Packs for a Purpose and our members’ favorite, Shoes for the Soul/Clothes for a Cause. Since its conception, we have contributed over $10,000 through our Community Assistance Fund to support organizations in Miller and Bowie Counties where traditional funding falls short. Your time, talents, and generosity help JLT create lasting change and inspire the next generation of women leaders.

I am also thrilled to announce that our largest signature event, Mistletoe Market, will be held at the Texarkana Convention Center in Texarkana, Texas. We’re excited to showcase our new venue and partnerships as we welcome the community for a festive holiday shopping experience. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our other events, including the Clubs and Bugs Fore a Cause golf tournament at New Haven Golf Club, and our family favorite, EGG-travganza, where volunteers will decorate yards with Easter surprises.

On behalf of JLT and myself, thank you to our partners, donors and volunteers. Your support empowers us to build a more connected, compassionate, and active community. If you’re interested in joining our membership or would like to contribute financially, we invite you to learn more about the JLT.

As JLT celebrates 100 years in Texarkana this league year, I look forward with hope and gratitude to the doors God will open. Together, we step into this exciting new chapter of service and growth—as a community united in purpose and heart.

With appreciation,

Erica Smith
